Foot Injuries
Approximately 75-85% of the population experience foot pain at some point during their life’s journey. Keep in mind that the foot bears the entire weight of the body. Foot injuries can be difficult to recognize because the foot is so unique and has so many parts.

Foot injuries may include sprains, pains, strains, fractures, blisters, cramping, edema (swelling), plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, etc. Most foot pain is caused by ill-fitted and inappropriate shoe selection, because the foot will take on the shape of it’s environment.
Some of the causes of foot pain:
- Shoes
- Changes in foot size and shape
- Improper walking
- Poor posture
- Medical conditions
- Inherited foot conditions
- High-impact exercises
- Occupational work related stress.
Wearing appropriate selected and correctly fitted shoes can eliminate so many foot problems. Feet can change in size during the day (later in the day) and with weather temperature change (smaller during the cold). Size and shape can differ during activity and with age. Many times someone who has always worn a certain size as a teenager is now sized to wear a different size. Many people are shocked to hear that having foot pain is not normal.
Foot pain is generally in the areas of the toes, the forefoot, and the hindfoot. These areas are often prone to experience pain because of ill-fitted shoes or the lack of proper support.
Arch supports are used as a treatment of various areas of foot pain. In order for the arch support to work in addressing the issues, it has to be supportive and comfortable related to relieving pain. Arch support design must be a good fit to the appropriate shoes, to allow the foot to experience a comfortable environment. Appropriate shoes and arch supports are known to reduce athletic fatigue in the feet. The arch support design with a heel cup to cradle the heel provides better stability which leads to improve balance by weight being more evenly distributed and improve performance on all levels.
